I recently spent a week doing Pilates in my PJ’s. Why? Simply because I wanted to stop obsessing about the perfect time to do Pilates, the perfect form, the perfect clothes, the perfect set up, the perfect……well you get the idea. Just the perfectionism that tends to worm its way into my personal practice. I was so tired of trying to make it all……perfect. To simply come downstairs into my studio and just MOVE for the joy of it……wow. There is literally nothing better than doing Pilates in my PJ’s. Waiting for all the perfects to line up was really getting in the way of my practice and I was. Over. IT!
And out of that, a blog was born! This will serve many fronts. From functional movement, to dissecting exercises, understanding Pilates and all its concepts, to how it should feel in your own body, no topic is off limits! Those of you who know me know that I can talk about Pilates for DAYS! After more than 30 years in this Pilates love affair, I find it still has the ability to move me passionately and creatively. And for that I am grateful. Grateful for my own practice, grateful I get to share Pilates with all of you! From my clients to my students to my students who have become instructors and teachers themselves! What a great time this is to discover all the things related to Pilates!
And maybe, just maybe, doing your own practice in your PJ’s!
So stay tuned! There is more to come from this crazy brain of mine that never turns off and is up for discussing anything! You got a question? Let’s chat! You want to know my opinion on an exercise or how to modify it for yourself or your client with an injury or limitation, let’s break it down!
This will also be the space where I share my own journey. From athlete to debilitating spinal disease I manage on a daily basis. To say I am one of very few to opt out of surgical intervention and use non-invasive therapeutic modalities plus Pilates to heal me, would be an understatement. But I believe I’m onto something that can really make a difference!
And what I’ve found is the more I have shared parts of myself, my journey, my thought processes, the more I help others in their journey. I was put on this earth to help others, to live in service of helping others. I feel that deeply in my soul and know it is my mission. To open up and share is to be vulnerable and that is difficult in this time of social media. But if it helps one person, then it is a job well done and worth it without question.
So onward and upward! And here’s to Pilates! Because I just LOVE it so much! Pilates in my PJ’s, baby! It can’t get more fun than that!
